PHDS Co. was founded in 2004, built on detector technology and expertise developed at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. For over two decades, we have designed and manufactured compact HPGe gamma-ray detectors for government agencies, national laboratories, and field programs that require definitive isotope identification.
Our customer install base includes national laboratories, Department of Energy sites, commercial waste assay companies, radiopharmaceutical producers, and many more. We work directly with the end users who put our systems to work, which means support calls reach the people who understand your specific application and problem.
We are a direct manufacturer, not a reseller. Every system that ships is designed and built by the PHDS Engineering team.
Ethan founded PHDS in 2004 following postdoctoral research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he developed compact HPGe detector technology. He leads product direction and remains directly involved in detector design.
Matt built his early career supporting government interdiction programs, applying HPGe spectroscopy in operational field environments. At PHDS he leads physics development and application support across the detector line.
Des brings a background in radiochemistry and medical instrumentation, with over 20 years of experience in sales. He works directly with customers across government, laboratory, and production count applications.
Morgan combines backgrounds in customer support and nuclear engineering to provide a seamless customer experience. He provides characterization, quality assurance, training, and support for every PHDS detector.
Aaron brings a background in nuclear engineering with over eight years of experience in radiation detection. He works directly with customers to fit HPGe systems to their applications across security, laboratory, and decommissioning work.
