NP Imager
Radiochemistry Imager
Bringing Vision to Radiochemical Separation Processes
The NP Imager is specifically designed to measure the dynamics of radiochemical separation processes in real time. Developed under a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Physics (NP), the NP Imager focuses on the unique needs of radiochemists and technicians separating radioisotopes for radio-pharmaceuticals and other applications.
Visualize Radiochemical Processing
The NP Imager monitors the locations and distributions of multiple isotopes over time, allowing the radiochemist and technician to monitor separation processes in real time. In the process shown here, NP Imager measured Lu-177 and Yb-175 separation on a column over the course of 3 ½ hours using 10-minute exposures. Note that it’s clear when the Yb-175 has been removed from the column, allowing the radiochemist to know when to collect the desired Lu-177.

Product FAQs
The NP Imager measures approximately 10.5″ x 8.0″ x 5.5″ (26 cm x 20 cm x 14 cm).
The NP Imager itself weighs 15 lbs, which includes the onboard tablet and 2 hot-swappable batteries. However, imaging dynamic radiochemical processes requires the pinhole shield and imaging platform. Contact us at sales@phdsco.com to discuss the options/accessories to best suit your application.
The NP Imager is specifically designed to monitor the dynamics of radiochemical processes. As such, NP Imager includes onboard algorithms, such as ZoomFactor, that are not standard for GeGI. Additionally, the NP Imager may be installed on an articulating arm attached to a wheeled gantry cart – this configuration allows the flexibility to position the NP Imager above/around the radiochemist for a clear view of the process.
