Non-destructive assay of radioactive waste and nuclear materials requires both accurate isotope identification and calibrated activity quantification without opening or dissolving the sample. HPGe gamma-ray spectroscopy provides the spectral resolution to identify and separate isotope contributions in complex mixed-radionuclide containers.
ISOTAC NDA software computes geometry-corrected activities using 3D models of the container being measured. Standard containers including 55-gallon drums, B-25 boxes, and cargo containers are pre-defined in the ISOTAC library. Custom container geometries can be imported and filled with attenuating materials to match any measurement scenario.
The QuantiCart mobile NDA cart positions a Fulcrum or Fulcrum-40h HPGe detector at user-defined angles and heights from floor level to 45 inches, with onboard apertures for four geometries. Measurements recorded in the field on Android OMNI can be analyzed offline using WinOMNI and ISOTAC, producing assay reports with full uncertainty accounting.
