This is the external edition of the IAEA Department of Safeguards report on the Technology Demonstration Workshop on gamma imaging, held at the IAEA on 19 to 23 October 2015 and originally prepared by the European Commission Joint Research Centre. The workshop evaluated gamma imaging technologies for nuclear safeguards through eight static experiments with radioactive sources and nuclear materials. The PHDS GeGI participated as a Compton and pinhole imager based on an HPGe detector, alongside room temperature CZT and CdTe systems and a separate ORNL HPGe coded-mask imager. The report reviews the current status and prospects of gamma imaging for safeguards.
